Terras de São José Condominium Improves Security with Axxon One VMS
Discover how the Terras de São José Condominium overcame the challenges posed by its vast size and numerous cameras through the implementation of an innovative security solution.
Client
The condominium faced a daunting challenge due to its sheer size and the number of cameras in the legacy city surveillance system. To reduce cameras and enhance security system efficiency, an advanced platform with AI video analytics was needed.
Challenges
The condominium has more than 1,000 lots, each measuring more than 2,500 square meters, and a perimeter of more than 13 kilometers. The condominium faced a daunting challenge due to its sheer size and the number of cameras in the city surveillance system. This required a security platform capable of applying video analytics to minimize the number of cameras and allow operators to focus on key events. One of the biggest hurdles the condominium faced was dealing with the large number of camera manufacturers and models present in the legacy system.
Solution
Integrator Protelt Sistemas de Segurança deployed Axxon One VMS running on six servers and managing 300 cameras. The Axxon One VMS platform was chosen for its scalability and ability to integrate with different device models of various brands. The platform’s versatility helped it aggregate and manage numerous devices inherited from the legacy city surveillance system.
The Axxon One VMS platform provides standard and AI video analytics such as motion detection, line crossing detection, and forensic search. The platform is integrated with an electric fence system, which makes it possible to notify the operator and automatically start recording on the nearest camera upon identifying an intrusion attempt. The system also includes license plate and facial recognition for recording at various entrances to the area to ensure public safety.
Results and Benefits
Implementing the Axxon One VMS platform with AI video analytics successfully addressed the condominium’s challenges, resulting in a more efficient and accurate security system. AI video analytics improved system accuracy, reducing false alarms and cutting response times.
Line crossing detection proved particularly useful for monitoring access points and sensitive areas. Forensic search enables operators to search for specific events by applying filters such as time, location, and object type. License plate and facial recognition help gather information critical to incident investigation.
The solution also reduced the number of city security cameras required. Additional features, such as a virtual tour across cameras, improve operators’ daily activities. This feature allows operators to view different camera views in a slide show, reducing the need to manually switch between cameras. Finally, privacy masking protects residents’ sensitive information by blocking certain areas of the city surveillance cameras view.
The project's success was due to collaboration between Protelt Sistemas de Segurança, the condominium, and the AxxonSoft team. The integrator provided expertise in security system implementation, while the condominium added valuable insight into the specific needs of the smart city surveillance system. The AxxonSoft team’s technical support and training ensured the successful implementation and operation of the city security system.
Conclusion
The implementation of the Axxon One VMS platform with AI video analytics has significantly enhanced the condominium’s security system efficiency, accuracy, and reliability. The integration of the platform with the electric fence system and the virtual tour feature improved operators’ daily activities. The project success was due to collaboration between the integrator, the condominium, and the AxxonSoft team in creating a robust city surveillance system.
