The license server helps manage camera licenses conveniently in a distributed Axxon One security system.
Easy License Management in a Distributed Security System
The license server receives configuration data from the Axxon One servers and maintains a centralized record of available and used licenses in the security system. As a result, cameras and other licensed devices can be distributed across Axxon One servers arbitrarily.
Benefits of Using the License Server
No need to obtain a license file for each Axxon One server. This saves time and enables easy transfer of configurations from one physical server to another, for example, when upgrading hardware or replacing a malfunctioning server.
No need to calculate in advance how many cameras will be connected to each VMS server. You can purchase licenses for the entire system at once and use them gradually. The number of cameras on each VMS server can be reduced or increased within the total number of available licenses. You don’t need to contact AxxonSoft to do this.
You can purchase new licenses remotely. If the license server is on the internet, they will be added to the system automatically. If the license server is on-site, it is sufficient to replace one file on it, and the licenses on the Axxon One servers will be automatically updated.
License Server Deployment Options
Online
A centralized AxxonSoft service available via the internet. The online license server is convenient: when you purchase new licenses, they are automatically added to the system. We have maximized security: the secure HTTPS protocol and a single port are used when connecting to the license server, the amount of transferred data is minimal and contains only license information. However, security system servers must have permanent internet access.
Onsite
A license server hosted on-premises. The on-site license server is deployed on a computer on the local network. A single license file for the entire system is used only on this computer. When purchasing new licenses, you need to update the license file manually. Internet access is not needed, making this option ideal for sites with stringent security requirements or without an internet connection.
